Breeds — Slovak chuvach (Slovenský čuvač)
Slovak chuvach is a young breed. Its standard was approved in June 1965 in Prague.
Birthplace of Slovak chuvach are Slovak mountains, where for many centuries it bred as herding dogs.
This is a large dog, a beautiful, imposing appearance, exceptionally intelligent, calm, fearless defender. Its thick hair fine protects its body against bad weather and harsh climate on mountain pastures. By nature it is sensitive and well may serve as a guard dog. In relation with its owners it is extremely good.
Its close relative, for whom he is very similar, is Hungarian kuvach, in the occurrence of which it certainly was involved. It has many similarities with the Polish Tatra Owczarek podgalanski, although it has striking, some exterior differences. Geographically distant and therefore not related to him in close generations is, and Pyrenean Shepherd.
Slovak chuvach - national pride not only in Slovakia but also in Bohemia and Moravia.
